We will have food and student performances. It will be a chance to celebrate the accomplishments thus far, pat the IBD seniors on the back for finishing TOK presentations AND get ready to cheer on the cross country team whose race starts later that evening.

If you are interested in performing, then please sign up on the bulletin board outside the AMR by tomorrow afternoon.

There will be additional Friday Night Lights events October 14 and November 11. Stay tuned for more info!

The new students and peer helpers helped sift sand, level the ground, clear dirt and other tasks. During the trip, our students also had a dance-off with the GK students!

Some pictures from the trip are below. Students, remember to complete your CAS reflection form on the portal and submit to Mr. Woods or Ms. Mohr. If you have any questions, then please see your counselor, any Peer Helper or your homeroom teacher. A HUGE thank you to the Service Learning Council for their assistance in making this trip happen!

Students if you are interested in going back to GK, then consider signing up for GK as your ICARE site or plan on attending another Saturday Service (check your planner for dates).

Remember that the peer helpers will be available to ask questions throughout your transition to ISM. We will also be available after school in the HS Counseling Office throughout the first two weeks of school. We also hope to see all the new students again on August 24 at 11:30 in P045 for the New Student Round-Up (lunch will be provided).

Here are the reminders that needs to be done by the end of the week

• Come see one of the advisors if you do not have a  t-shirt or forgot to list your t-shirt size (we’ll be doing the order soon!)
• Complete the google form that will be used to match Peer Helpers with New Students
• Join the ISM HS Peer Helpers 2011-2012 Facebook group
• Put the Upcoming events dates into your calendar!
• Contact Ms. Mohr if you want to get involved with putting the New Student Guide into a format that can be uploaded online.

During the summer:

• RELAX!!!!
• Check your e-mail weekly–be prepared for buddies during the sumer! Remember to read the Peer Helper Buddy Expectations when someone is assigned to you.
• Be prepared to help with the various “work groups” for the New Student Orientation during the summer
• Be prepared to bring food for the New Student Orientation (August 3)
• Come rested and ready for meeting on August 1 at 1:00 PM in HS Guidance!

ALL OFFICER APPLICATIONS ARE DUE BY 7:30 AM MAY 23. Applications can be e-mailed to Ms. Mohr or turned into Gigi in HS Guidance. Click on this link to access the Peer Helper Officer Application 2011.

As with last year, the advisors will select the officers through an application and interview process.

In contrast to last year, we will be changing the officer structure to meet the needs of a larger group of peer helpers.  Descriptions of the roles for each of the officers is on the second page of the application. Keep in mind that we are considering the option of having co-presidents. If you have someone who you work well with, then encourage them to apply as well!

Our first mandatory meeting will be Tuesday, May 17, at 2:30 PM in the Little Theatre. If you cannot attend, then you must contact an advisor.
